Running Costs

← Back to Air Conditioners

This will be dependent on the type and size of your system, the amount of time you are using it, the construction of your building and your electricity tariff.

The following are some tips to reduce running costs:

  • Temperature:  each degree C cooler in summer and each degree warmer in winter will increase the running costs by 10-15%.  To reduce costs try to find a temperature that you are just comfortable with.
  • Close all external windows or close curtains during hot summer days and cold nights.
  • When you expect a hot day, turn the air conditioner on early rather than wait until your home is hot. Likewise on a cold day or night turn the heating on early.
In a residential home, it is not necessary to keep the system running constantly as this will significantly increase your running costs.
